ow lucky for us, especially you Arkansans, that he now serves in the state legislature leading the fight against the government waste that is Medicare and Medicaid! He’s protecting you from those “who qualify for the private option [who] aren’t working hard enough. He claims many want health insurance just so they can get prescription drugs to abuse.” Yes, the hordes of drug-addled layabouts that aren’t him.

Lying has certainly come a long way in the new century. Those of us us born in the 1900′s can still remember a time when being caught publicly lying could bring down a President (Nixon), or at the very least, get one impeached (Clinton). In those sepia-toned days, lying was a content-neutral affront; Barry Goldwater was just as justifiably incensed at being lied to by Nixon as Al Gore was at being lied to by Clinton, despite the rather gigantic difference between the significance of their respective lies.
But something odd happened when George W. Bush entered office.

I love the new homophobia. In the vein of Chik-Fil-a, bigoted establishments welcome gay dollars, but want to condemn at the same time. In New Bern, NC on December 4, Ariel and Shawnee McPhail walked into The Stingray Café, sat down and had their meal, and had this handed to them by the restaurant’s owner, Ed McGovern — after they had paid and were leaving.

Yes, it’s time again for an episode of “Might Makes Right” and “Majority Rules.” The trouble began when the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) sent Superintendent Phil Howard a letter pointing out that a portrait of Jesus (on display in the public school since 1947, donated by a Christian student group) was an “egregious violation of the the First Amendment.”

Sadly Tim Scott would be the first black man to serve as a U.S. Senator from that state since Reconstruction. He will replace Jim DeMint. Times are slowly a-changing for the GOP.
Not that it makes much difference, politically. He’s right out of winger-central.

Google’s incredible profits didn’t materialize out of nothing. They are derived because as the news audience has migrated online, Google has skimmed the lion’s share of news advertizing revenues for itself. That money used to go to pay for investigative reporting. Google’s glittering balance sheet basically comes from driving the 4th estate out of business.

The Chick-Fil-A COO just steps in it over and over. Dan Cathy spoke with 11Alive’s (WXIA-TV) Matt Pearl at the Cathy family’s ranch in Georgia.

The Romney camp has been making a lot of noise about an Obama campaign speech in which the President pointed out that those who succeed in this country get help from different sources.
Taking a deceptive view of the President’s speech (i.e. claiming that Obama said that business owners do not in fact create their businesses), the Romney camp is claiming that Obama insults business owners by claiming that they are unable to function without the help of the supposedly intrusive federal government.

We’ve seen epic denials from pols that are hall-of-fame worthy when they are caught in a sex scandal with someone of the same sex — think Larry ” I never have been gay“ Craig , or Bob “black gay panic” Allen come to mind — but we’ve got a real winner today. Not only do we have a rare case of a female politician in the maelstrom of a lesbian sex scandal, but she’s (ahem) coming out of the box swinging away with an UNBELIEVABLE reason why the story cannot possibly be true.
