Ready, Shoot, Aim and Wayne LaPierre’s World of Demons

After listening to Wayne LaPierre’s thoughful remarks to advance the respectful discussion of the role of guns in our society . . .

Nope, I just can’t do it.

I wanted to try not to laugh at LaPierre’s comments, but that’s not possible, not even with a 24 hour waiting period. Watching him speak yesterday, I alternated between laughter and tears, as I witnessed a sad spectacle of a man so blind to the real world, so callous as to want to exploit tragedy for commercial gain, or both.

By the end, LaPierre showed us all that he lives in a world filled with demons, and the only thing we can do is adopt the new motto of the NRA: Ready, Shoot, Aim.

I’m Really Tired of Gun-Related Funerals

As yesterday’s story of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School unfolded, image after image went through my head . . . my kid and his school, my friends who hunt, George Tiller, and especially the victims of gun violence whose funerals I have done.

I’m really tired of doing gun-related funerals.

The Politico Villagers Go Deer Hunting!

Yesterday on Morning Joe on MSNBC, Mike Allen of Politico proudly announced that he, the managing editor at Politico, John Harris, and Politico executive editor Jim VanderHei all went on their first deer hunt Monday. Must have been some event!
