GOP 2012 Clown Car occupant Herman Cain takes the laziest, most non-reality based way to declare his homophobia for the fringe voter out there. He needs proof that being gay is not a choice. All he has to do is read.

2011 NC Pride: Lonely, Pathetic Fundie Spouts Idiocy, Junk Science |
| By: Pam Spaulding Sunday September 25, 2011 1:00 pm |
2011 Pride, held in Durham, NC on 9/24/2011, was a festive, albeit rainy affair (toward the end). Given the recent act by the NC state legislature to put a marriage amendment on the ballot, I expected a healthy fundie turnout. I saw only about 10 people tops, however.
NC: Debate Between Reps. Glazier and Stam Exposes Bigotry, Irrationality Behind Marriage Amendment |
| By: Pam Spaulding Wednesday September 21, 2011 6:20 pm |
The debate on the topic of North Carolina’s discriminatory, job-killing marriage amendment was really over before it began when bill sponsor, the bigoted State House Majority Leader Rep. Paul “Skip” Stam (R-Apex) passed out two documents to the attendees at UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Law today. In his opening remarks he gleefully referred to the “Act Concerning Marriages (1669)” handout (below) as if it were some holy text representing law in North Carolina. He seems to have forgotten that in 1669, blacks were slaves and they couldn’t even marry one another. That’s a real tradition to uphold.
Pro-Amendment NC Legislators: Look How Many LGBT Families Will Be Hurt by Your Bigotry |
| By: Pam Spaulding Wednesday September 14, 2011 4:36 pm |
So simple a concept – but the numnut Republicans in my legislature fail to understand it because they are bathed in homophobia.
Kate and I celebrated the 7th anniversary of our legal marriage in 2011. Thank you, Vancouver, B.C. We flew back home to NC, where our union is not recognized by my state, and won’t be until the U.S. Supreme Court does away with this institutionalized bigotry.

Brains…BRAINS! Teh Gay Activists® are “kidnapping the brains” of California’s kids! It must be true because Randy Thomasson of Save California said so in a Fox 40 video! …umm, right?

Obama Impersonator Pulled off Stage at GOP Gathering after “Jokes” |
| By: Teddy Partridge Sunday June 19, 2011 6:00 pm |
I wonder if it was the oversize, two-screen depiction of Anthony Weiner’s tweet that was the last straw. Or, if it was the “jokes” that bothered the GOP leadership gathered in New Orleans, exactly which joke it was that pushed the conference management to pull this ‘comedian’ off the stage.
Sunday Late Night: Seventh Grader Gets Boston Red Sox to Make “It Gets Better” Video |
| By: Teddy Partridge Sunday June 5, 2011 8:01 pm |
New Hampshire seventh grader Sam Maden, an avid Boston Red Sox fan, wanted his favorite team to make a video for the project as well. He launched a petition on Change.org. The result? Almost 10,000 signatures in only a few days:
Late Night: Why Does Poopy Pat Hate People Who Are Different? |
| By: Jim White Thursday May 5, 2011 8:01 pm |
Poopy Pat has been spreading his poop for over forty years, but he’s still mean to people who are different from him. I’m usually a lot less cranky after a big poop, so I don’t know why Poopy Pat is still so mean after all this poop. My Mommy tells me that everyone is different, and that’s what makes us special. Poopy Pat thinks different is bad instead of special. That’s really sad when you think about it.
Prop 8 Supporters Try to Gay-Bait Vaughn Walker in New Appeal |
| By: David Dayen Tuesday April 26, 2011 11:50 am |
If Walker would have to recuse because he is gay and in a relationship, would a judge in a heterosexual marriage also have to recuse? Would he not have to recuse if he merely cruised from club to club every night and didn’t have a long-term partner? Could only a confirmed bachelor or bachelorette who vowed never to marry, and thus not have their marriage threatened by a same-sex couple, have the distance necessary to judge? Can a woman not fairly judge a gender discrimination case? Can any judge over the age of 65 not fairly rule in an age discrimination case?
