Remembering the African American Holocaust survivors

This week, April 8- 12, marks the 27th annual observance of Holocaust Memorial Week. The week is about remembering not only the 6 million Jews murdered but also remembering the millions of allies, martyrs and victims who survived Nazi Germany’s reign of brutality.

As the civilian death toll in Gaza mushroomed Sunday, the son of long comatose Ariel Sharon invoked mushroom clouds, in a stark metaphor of eliminationism toward the people of Gaza.

“The residents of Gaza are not innocent, they elected Hamas,” he writes.

“We need to flatten entire neighbourhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza. The Americans didn’t stop with Hiroshima – the Japanese weren’t surrendering fast enough, so they hit Nagasaki, too.”

Gad Beck, Last Known Gay Jewish Holocaust Survivor, Dies at 89

The last surviving gay Jewish survivor of the Holocaust has died. Gad Beck had worked to help others escape but was captured. He was imprisoned in Berlin but liberated by Allied soldiers in 1945.
