Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren officially received her committee assignments today, and she will sit on the Senate Banking Committee, with key oversight over Wall Street and the financial system. Progressives agitated for weeks for Warren to get this spot, and in the end it wasn’t that difficult a lift. I’m looking forward to future hearings from the committee, especially when Wall Street’s finest makes the trip to testify.

The final Senate race of the election is now officially over. In North Dakota Republican Rick Berg has conceded the race to Democrat Heidi Heitkamp. With 100 percent of precincts reporting Heitkamp ended up with roughly a 3,000 vote lead over Berg.

When Kent Conrad (D) decided to retire it was widely assumed that his decision was going to cost Democrats the North Dakota Senate seat this cycle, but Democrat Heidi Heitkamp has turned out to be a surprisingly strong candidate. A new Valley News Live / Mason-Dixon Pollfound the North Dakota senate race tied with 47 percent backing Hietkamp and 47 percent back Republican Rick Berg.
