The American people’s perception about the current job market has recently hit its lowest level in a decade according to Gallup. Only 8 percent think this is a good time to find a quality job, while an incredible 90 percent think it is a bad time to find a job.

President Obama’s reelection poll numbers have slightly improved, giving him a slight edge over a generic Republican opponent and also a lead over Mitt Romney. That change has corresponded to recent slight improvement in American’d confidence in the economy.

The latest Pew poll found that President Obama now has only a one point lead over a generic Republican candidate, well within the margin of error.

The good news for Obama is that there is currently no one in the Republican primary field right now who is likely to have as much broad base support a generic Republican. Against any of the actual opponents currently running I suspect Obama would perform slightly better.
The bad news is that the trend is currently moving in the Republican’s favor.
