Clean Energy Fuels (CEF) signed a deal with General Electric (GE) to purchase its natural gas vehicle fueling assets in an effort to expand what it describes as “America’s Natural Gas Highway.”

CEF is owned on a 20.8 percent basis by T. Boone Pickens, energy magnate and owner of the hedge fund, BP Capital. Andrew Littlefair, President and CEO of CEF, described the deal as one of the “most significant milestones in Clean Energy’s history.”

Former Clinton and Bush Cabinet Members, Now Oil and Gas Lobbyists, Expect Keystone XL Green Light

By: Sunday November 18, 2012 7:45 am

The Tar Sands Blockade of TransCanada Corporation’s “Keystone XL South” continues in Texas, but former members of the Clinton and George W. Bush cabinets believe the northern half will soon be green-lighted by President Barack Obama.

In a Nov. 13 conference call led by the Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA), an oil and gas industry front group, CEA Counsel John Northington said he believes a “Keystone XL North” rubber stamp is in the works by the Obama Administration.

“I think the Keystone will be approved in fairly short order by the administration,” Northington said on the call.

Jack Welch as a Virtual Business Messiah

By: Monday October 8, 2012 1:00 pm

The guy turned massive profits and was (and is) the darling of Wall Street, but it seems a lot of people have forgotten a lot of things about Jack…one of them being he could also be the most flamboyantly dumb man ever. He returns to that glory with his birther-like chargesof Obama fiddling jobs numbers a month from the election.

Last year, the watchdog group Citizens for Tax Justice put out a paper showing that 30 Fortune 500 companies had a negative tax rate for the cumulative years 2008-2010. Extending that through 2011, there are still 26 such companies that paid “negative” income taxes.

Come Saturday Morning: Too Big to Fail, Jail – or Even Pay Taxes?

By: Saturday January 21, 2012 6:45 am

In these hard times — caused by Wall Street bubbles and unregulated greed — it’s more than a little bile-inducing to see of the worst perps not only skate on jail time or even paying to fix the messes they helped create, but to steal some more money out of the till, money that could have gone to schools, highways, libraries, and actual job creation the way Franklin Delano Roosevelt did it lo these many years ago.

That’s why Minnesotans for a Fair Economy and several other local groups are staging a Rally and March for the 99% this coming Tuesday, January 24.

What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Three countries–one gets 29 percent of its electricity from nuclear power, one gets 26 percent from nuclear, and one gets 20 percent. Guess which one is winning the future. . . or, more to point, guess which one is not.

US Debt Ratio Similar to Private Companies Like GE

By: Thursday April 21, 2011 4:54 pm

What Mason doesn’t realize is that Galtian producer class colossi work in those corporate boardrooms, and they can shrug off debt ratios like so many gnats. Only the sniveling government – which by the way sucks at the government teat, has anybody noticed that? – has a problem with debt.

Response to GE Hoax Reveals How Badly Press Understands Multinational Capitalism

By: Wednesday April 13, 2011 3:01 pm

No one really wants to report on what GE’s approach to taxes is. To the extent they do, they accept GE’s explanation unquestioningly. But if the AP had a sense of what GE’s real approach to taxes is, they would never have fallen for the hoax in the first place.

Feingold’s Progressives United Goes After GE’s Jeffrey Immelt

By: Wednesday March 30, 2011 7:15 pm

Progressives United is a very new formulation for former Senator Russ Feingold. With all the tumult in his backyard over Scott Walker and the unions, it was natural that would be an early focus. But I think it’s interesting that he went here for his first campaign outside that.

GE Pays No Taxes, Wants Workers to Accept Cuts

By: Monday March 28, 2011 3:10 pm

General Electric is paying no taxes after making $14 billion in profits, and in fact is getting $3 billion in returns from the government. At the same time that the corporation isn’t giving one penny to the government for use of the commons, they are trying to exact wage and benefit cuts on their own workers.
