“Let’s not get ahead of the 19th century here or anything…”

For those of you who’ve been mildly surprised with the almost modern reign of Pope Frank, the week started out pretty well.

Family Research Council Learns Lesson About Pride on Eve of Values Voter Summit

By: Thursday September 25, 2014 3:40 pm

Wednesday morning, several progressive groups including the NAACP, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and People for the American Way published an open letter in the Washington Post and The Hill calling out the Republican Party for its allegiance to anti-gay groups such as the Family Research Council and for the decision of several Republicans to attend that organization’s upcoming Values Voter Summit.

Later that night, in a show of unbelievable stupidity, the Family Research Council took the bait by answering the letter via email with a bit of bravado and a lot of lies

“But our lives of disappointment…might be disappointing!”

Talk About a SmackDown: WWE’s Stone Cold Steve Austin Comes Out for Gay Marriage

By: Friday April 25, 2014 4:15 pm

What’s remarkable about the exchange is how unremarkable it is. Austin’s indignation and dismissal of intolerant faith-based counter arguments represents an increasingly mainstream point of view. By: Monday March 3, 2014 11:28 am

Over the weekend one of the Christian right’s most public defenders, Ross Douthat, essentially threw in the towel in opposing gay rights. In one of his regular columns for the paper of record titled The Terms of Our Surrender Douthat not only conceded that the “religious liberty” argument put forth by other pundits was doomed, [...]

Ian McKellen Talks Coming Out: Never Met a Gay Person Who Regretted It

By: Saturday March 1, 2014 9:27 am

Ian McKellen is an incredible actor. With a vast career that includes high profile roles like X-Men’s Magneto and The Hobbit’s Gandolf, his ability to inhabit his roles is unmatched. I don’t ever think about Magneto while watching Lord of the Rings and vice versa. Both characters are epic! While on screen McKellen has your full attention in whatever character he’s portraying.

Fox News’ Todd Starnes and the Fetishization of ‘Anti-Christian’ Persecution

By: Tuesday February 25, 2014 7:35 am

Just in case a lot of you all aren’t aware, Arizona recently passed a “religious liberty” law, SB1062, targeted at the lgbt community. This law would allow businesses to refuse service to same-sex couples on the grounds of “religious liberty.”

The law isn’t official yet – Gov. Jan Brewer has yet to sign it – but it is already considered a disaster for anti-gay groups and those who support it.

One-Third down the rest to go

Yesterday, despite yet another futile, but anger-filled, challenge from the Right, the New Mexico Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional to deny same-sex couples marriage license.
