Meet your government, ladies and gentlemen. Josh Fox, the Academy Award-nominated director of the fracking documentary Gasland, was arrested today on Capitol Hill for attempting to film a public hearing. The GOP Committee did not want Fox filming their latest witch hunt.

Every race has a dark horse, running at long odds. In this year’s race for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Film, the dark horse is GasLand (2010), a film by Josh Fox that takes on almost everyone in the Oil and Gas Industry, including George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Halliburton over the use of “fracking” — hydraulic fracturing — to extract natural gas from vast deposits all over the United States.

Okay boys and girls, it’s time for a little more “energy-based geology” courtesy of your Aunt Toby. You didn’t know that I know anything about geology, did you? Well, I had better since I live smack dab in an area which given the amount of natural gas formation there is, has the potential to make the BP oil volcano pollution look like small change.
