Sen. Leahy: Real NSA Reform or Kill the Bill

The prospects for serious NSA reform looked grim only weeks ago when the House of Representatives passed a watered-down version of the USA Freedom Act that failed to end bulk data collection and actually strengthened some NSA spying powers.

But as more lawmakers took the novel approach of actually reading what they voted for, they did not like what they saw. This became obvious when the House voted last month — in overwhelmingly bipartisan fashion — on an amendment to actually rein in the NSA.


Author Of Patriot Act Says NSA Abused Trust, Must Be Reined In

Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner, author of the Patriot Act, has decided to publicly condemn the NSA for abusing trust, even going so far as to call for more oversight. Sensenbrenner authored an op-ed for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel claiming to be in solidarity with Americans who were outraged over the NSA’s domestic spying program. and also claiming he never imagined the NSA would use the Patriot Act to spy on the American people.
