Nothing is more delicious than the sweet, sweet taste of right-wing bitterness. And in the wake of yesterday’s historic civil rights victory for gays, the reaction across wingnuttia has been tasty to watch.

Courtrooms, especially those of the appellate level, should be places where constitutions, both state and federal, reign supreme and the rights of all citizens are respected and protected without regard to the vagaries and whims of interst groups and fundamentalist bigots of any striping. The wild success of the conservative effort to remove the Iowa Judges signals a disturbing trend in the wrong direction.

The RNC is . . . bound . . . by its own unattainable perception of morality. HA!

Allan Carlson, president of the conservative Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society recently proposed paying up to $5,000 per baby born, or one-quarter of each parents’ outstanding loan balances, to reduce the financial burden he claims is preventing debt-laden young married couples from starting families. Gee, would Carlson advocate tax increases to pay for this hair-brained scheme?
