Mamdouh Habib was an Egyptian emigrant to Australia. He was captured and sold to the Americans who sent him to Egypt to be horrifically tortured. From there, he was sent to Guantanamo, where he was ultimately released, but only after more torture. Now, Habib is suing his Egyptian tormenter, former head of Egyptian internal security, Omar Suleiman.

The new Wikileaks document release on Guantanamo consists of intelligence assessments of Guantanamo detainees whose factual basis is hopelessly compromised, not least by “facts” produced under torture. Former detainee David Hicks’s supporters are fighting back with a press release detailing the many government lies and errors.

A series of documents released on July 14 in the UK Binyam Mohamed civil case point to collusion by the UK government with the American torture rendition program. One of the revelations argues for the existence of extrajudicial murders as part of that system.
