The idea that women have free will just drives conservatives crazy. Not only do they hate the idea of women being allowed to terminate their pregnancies, they don’t want them to be able to terminate their marriages either.

It’s interesting to see the 2010 U.S. Census data sliced and diced to get a clearer picture of the changes going on in the U.S. For the fundies who still see Americans as a nuclear family – two opposite-sex married parents with 2.5 kids — they are longing for something that simply doesn’t exist in greater numbers than non-traditional families.
And on the subject of divorce, well, talk about w-r-o-n-g.

Joan Williams’ book, Reshaping the Work-Family Debate: Why Men and Class Matter (Harvard 2010), supplies that roadmap. The book creates an innovative framework for examining the relationship between law, work and family in the post-industrial economy.
