Pentagon Overpaid Supplier With Exclusive Contract by as Much As 85%

In honor of tomorrow being Halloween here is another horror story from the black hole of Pentagon financing. According to a report by Department of Defense’s Inspector General, the Defense Logistics Agency exceeded their prices targets by as much as 85% when servicing a contract from a vendor who had exclusive rights to provide replacement aircraft parts.

The contract for replacement aircraft parts was with Ontic Engineering a unit of BBA Aviation Plc.

 

Patty Murray Continues to Run From Her Own Budget Deal

The Ryan-Murray budget deal is heading to President Obama’s desk after having passed the Senate. It is nothing to be proud of. A point that Senator Patty Murray herself has made repeatedly. Murray claimed during the legislative process that the bill – despite being flawed – needed to pass in order to prevent another shutdown and the continuance of intolerable sequestration. Murray said “both sides had to give a bit.”

For those who have followed the defense industry for years, that statement is no revelation, but for the vast majority of the American public, the notion that the maker of the radar-evading F-22 Raptor aircraft has also been involved in sorting the mail is both surprising, and important.
