Democrat Cory Booker is set to become the newest United States senator from the great state of New Jersey. While his lead has shrunk slightly as election day nears, he still holds a commanding 10 point advantage over Republican Steve Lonegan according to a new Monmouth University poll.

Cory Booker is on track to becoming the newest Senator from New Jersey after easily winning the Democratic primary in the special Senate election. The special election is to replace the recently deceased Senator Frank Lautenberg (D). The low turnout election provided a decisive victory for Booker.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker has gotten himself in some hot water on the eve of a primary election. The New York Post reveals that Booker took confidential payouts while in office from a law firm that received work from the city. The law firm paid Mayor Booker every year and received more than a total of $2 million in legal fees from the city of Newark and related agencies.
