Dan Gillmor’s latest book, Mediactive, is a guide intended to help news consumers become less passive and more active, and to enable news consumers to become news producers — what Dan calls “citizen journalism.”

FDL readers have been working collectively on a Citizen Journalism project to transcribe interviews relevant to Wikileaks, Adrian Lamo and Bradley Manning. The transcripts have been compiled on one page, which is available now:

McChrystal and Eikenberry’s plan for measuring progress is absolutely required if we care at all about the truth in Afghanistan. However, the variable in this plan is not necessarily the ability to produce these assessments, but access to the reliable, accurate information sources which provide the backbone of these assessments.

Mayhill Fowler, formerly with the Huffington Post’s OffTheBus program, has crossed the line from gossipy blogger to citizen journalist covering the war in Afghanistan. She’s advocating for a radical policy like military aggression in Afghanistan and Pakistan in complete ignorance. And she admits it!
