Late Night: Shell Hopes to Resume Alaskan Arctic Drilling in 2014

Royal Dutch Shell announced to shareholders last week that they are contemplating a resumption of oil drilling in Arctic waters adjacent to Alaska this coming summer season

The Arctic Challenger is what Shell Oil claims will be their Arctic oil spill response unit. They are not joking. Unless the problems associated with the hull shape have been addressed, the vessel should not be certified by the Coast Guard for Shell’s contemplated use.

Climate change skeptics have been after Dr. Monnett since Al Gore used information about his research in the movie, An Inconvenient Truth. Judging from the attacks launched since the last week of July on his 2005 paper and how environmentalists used that information to heighten awareness of rapid changes in the polar ice cap, the investigation of the scientist will continue to be misrepresented by the anti-science community, even as he goes back to work.
