In Brutal Beauty, Tales of the Rose City Rollers director Chip Mabry takes us on an in depth spin into the lives of the women who skate on the four teams–Guns N Rollers, Break Neck Betties, High Rollers and Heartless Heathers–that make up the Rose City Rollers league in Portland, Oregon as they work towards the national finals. The women–social workers, teachers, lawyers, doctors and identified in the film by their derby names like Blood Clottia, Marollin’ Monroe and Cadillac–have all found in the sport camaraderie, strength, family and love, while absorbing painful injuries and even more painful defeats.
