When voters in the middle of one of the worst downturns in decades say they want their leaders to “focus on the economy,” they mean the immediate economy. They needed help with their underwater mortgages that month. They needed immediate relief to help pay their bills and find new jobs.

Professor Wang is the KRS-One of election prediction. In a just world, he would have already been allowed to end the careers of the various hacks out there. But since the hacks are getting good money for telling stories their patrons like to hear, the hacks will still be hacking long after the 2014 election is in the can.

This November, especially because of how districts are gerrymandered, Republicans could win what is declared an overwhelming victory, a net gain of 30 or more seats, even though Democrats receive more total votes for Congress than Republicans.
