Congress Job Approval Drops Again to a New Absurd Low

By: Jon Walker Wednesday October 26, 2011 9:00 am

Congress’ job approval rating had been hovering in the low single digits for months, but it managed to drop to only 9 percent in the newest CBS News/New York Time poll. An overwhelming 84 percent of Americans don’t approve of the job Congress is currently doing.

Congress Approval Rating Hits New Record Low

By: Jon Walker Wednesday October 5, 2011 1:00 pm

Two new national polls both find that Congress’ job approval rating has reached a new historic low. Americans want Congress to fix the unemployment problem and the economy, but Congress is fixated on deficit hysteria. No wonder more people want to “occupy” public squares and demand change

The Poll Result that Should Scare the Obama Campaign the Most

By: Jon Walker Tuesday October 4, 2011 12:00 pm

This is by far one of the ugliest polls I’ve seen for President Obama in a very long time. The American people overwhelmingly think Obama has failed to make real progress on fixing the economy. From CBS News: Sixty-nine percent say the president has not made real progress on the economy, which voters overwhelmingly cite [...]

Another Day, Another Poll Showing America Losing Faith in Its Government

By: Jon Walker Wednesday September 28, 2011 8:40 am

Trust in the federal government has now reached an all time record low according to CNN’s polling. The previous low was set back in 1994. And the reasons have a lot to do with years of 9 percent unemployment, with no major recovery in sight.

Can Congressional Republicans Ever Be So Unpopular that the Buck Stops with the Speaker of the House?

By: Jon Walker Sunday September 18, 2011 8:10 am

The fact that Democrats manage to make themselves the less unpopular of the two major parties should be good political news, but in two special Congressional elections this week the Democratic candidates significantly underperformed. It seems that the bad economy and extreme gridlock is making everyone in Washington unpopular, particularly the Congressional Republicans.

A Personal Reflection on September 11, 2001

By: dakine01 Saturday September 10, 2011 1:03 pm

On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, I was living in Springfield, IL. I had been laid off from my previous employer back at the end of July so my usual routine was to get up, make the coffee, check my email and the various job hunting sites for anything within my skills and career field to apply to, then surf the news sites. That routine stayed pretty much the same, even the week before when I had visited my best friend in Jacksonville, FL for a week, having returned to Springfield on Saturday, September 8.

It was a sunny morning and my then feline companion had joined me at the computer when I saw the first news article about a plane hitting the World Trade Center.

Approval of Congress at All Time Low

By: Jon Walker Sunday August 7, 2011 6:45 am

The fact that American people are very upset with Congress right now shouldn’t be surprising. Congress has becoming significantly more gridlocked and it just ended a very public high stakes fight. The country has also been stuck in a bad economy for years, and despite that fact that the vast majority of voters want Congress focused on jobs, all Washington has focused on for months is the deficit

By Greater than Two-to-One, Americans Want Jobs, Not Spending Cuts

By: Jon Walker Wednesday March 23, 2011 7:50 am

CBS News has released a new poll and, not surprisingly, with official unemployment around nine percent, it found that an overwhelming 51 percent of Americans said jobs/economy is the most important problem facing the country. By comparison, the national debt comes in second with a mere seven percent of Americans saying it is the most important problem, followed by health care with five percent.
