This is shady. In a blog post on the National Organization for Marriage’s website and in email from NOM to its subscribers today, NOM president Brian Brown asks supporters to donate to the Congressional campaign of conservative Calif. Republican Kirk Jorgensen. However…

You never used to hear Brian Brown, Rick Santorum, Ken Hutcherson or Chris Plante admit that they’re losing the national debate on marriage equality. They are now. Mr. Santorum openly admits it, while the rest try to hide it. However, if you listen closely you can hear that their remarks are premised in defeat, and their shrinking audiences consist of like-minded people who need no persuading.

In an email claiming credit for stalling the Illinois marriage equality bill, National Organization for Marriage’s Brian Brown stated today that “NOM put everything we had into this fight”. However, “everything” was reportedly only $125,000, according to NOM’s own emails and blog post as well as blog posts from another anti-gay organization focused on this debate.

No food reward, no dice. That’s the message that Chick-fil-A’s anti-equality customers have sent Brian Brown of National Organization for Marriage in the wake of Brown’s attempt to ride the tail feathers of “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” into fundraising heaven.
