I was pleased to be asked to appear on the successful RT news program The Alyona Show earlier today. The interview was offered as a follow-up to an investigatory article published at Truthout last week, which showed that all protestations by Donald Rumsfeld and U.S. government authorities aside, the U.S. military did engage in torture remarkably similar to waterboarding, if not waterboarding itself. A key reason reason officials are so worried about information on Abu Zubaydah — including that contained in Zubaydah’s diaries — coming out is that it’ll show the massive intelligence failure that resulted in the conclusion that he was a top al Qaeda officer. The drawings in the diaries may also show the acts of torture perpetrated on Zubaydah.
