By: Monday January 6, 2014 1:04 pm

When asked by Bob Schieffer if he would be willing to do away with the filibuster entirely Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) refused to take the idea off the table.

Late Night: Media Fail: David Gregory Edition

By: Thursday August 15, 2013 8:00 pm

Wonder of wonders, every once in a while, the Free Market gets off its nattily-clad ass and renders judgement where judgement is way overdue, and this appears to be one of those times. You see, NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the longest running political show on TV, has come in dead last in the ratings, reaching less than 1% of US households, an astonishingly pathetic number which includes, presumably, the crummy motels and Pine-Sol scented nursing homes with which such shows are most commonly associated.

The Press’ Outrage Toward Obama Justice Department for Targeting Reporters in Leaks Investigations

By: Tuesday May 28, 2013 10:20 am

The Justice Department’s seizure of the Associated Press’ phone records, along with criminalizing Fox News reporter James Rosen to pursue a leak investigation into a former State Department contractor, has led to media organizations making some of the most clear defenses of freedom of the press to date. It has inspired a healthy amount of disdain for the administration of President Barack Obama relationship with the press and how the administration’s zealous pursuit of leaks has had a chilling effect on investigative journalism.

Sunday Late Night: Ace Won’t Confirm Any Nominee for State Until Pudding

By: Sunday November 18, 2012 8:01 pm

John McCain’s views seem to have evolved since four days ago when he told The Three Dumbest People on Television that he would “do everything in my power to block the nomination of Susan Rice to be Secretary of State.”

Now he won’t allow anyone to become Secretary of State until, well, pudding.

Two Men Incapable of Having a Foreign Policy Debate

By: Tuesday October 23, 2012 2:00 pm

One hour and a half was the time the two campaigns agreed upon for the foreign policy debate. They had a moderator, Bob Schieffer, who would ask all questions from the point of view that America is justified in whatever it does so long as it does it. When and how to do it would be the discussion, not why or whether it was legal, moral or humane.

Romney Required Multiple Years of Tax Returns to Pick a VP

By: Monday August 13, 2012 10:15 am

According to Rep. Paul Ryan in a interview with CBS News, the Romney campaign made him provide them with significantly more than two years of tax returns before they would select him. Yet Romney thinks it is absurd for the media and regular Americans to ask to see multiple years of tax returns before making the radically more important decision of selecting who might be the next President of the United States.

Rick Santorum’s Fantasy About Stewards of the Earth

By: Monday February 20, 2012 6:30 am

On CBS Face the Nation, yesterday, Rick Santorum left CBS’ Bob Schieffer repeatedly incredulous as Santorum gave us what increasingly sounds like his own personal version of Catholic dogma. He’s been hinting that mainline religion in America — read, Protestants — have led America astray, that while President Obama may claim to be a Christian, his governing religion was not based on the Bible. But his remarks on environmental stewardship are equally appalling.

Paul Ryan Says He’s Not Playing Games with the Debt Ceiling, Which Means…

By: Monday April 18, 2011 2:05 pm

We know House Republicans are playing games with the debt ceiling because if a party weren’t, they would have already taken care of it. Or at the least made it abundantly clear they would take care of it in a non-hostage-taking, timely manner, such that journalists wouldn’t even bother asking about it.

Sunday Late Night: Anti-Gang Enforcement Needed on Capitol Hill

By: Sunday April 17, 2011 8:01 pm

Mark Warner’s Gang of Six is simply another attempt to gut Social Security, for the same reason Willie Sutton robbed banks: it’s where the money is.
