Rick Santorum’s Fantasy About Stewards of the Earth

By: Scarecrow Monday February 20, 2012 6:30 am

On CBS Face the Nation, yesterday, Rick Santorum left CBS’ Bob Schieffer repeatedly incredulous as Santorum gave us what increasingly sounds like his own personal version of Catholic dogma. He’s been hinting that mainline religion in America — read, Protestants — have led America astray, that while President Obama may claim to be a Christian, his governing religion was not based on the Bible. But his remarks on environmental stewardship are equally appalling.

Paul Ryan Says He’s Not Playing Games with the Debt Ceiling, Which Means…

By: Jon Walker Monday April 18, 2011 2:05 pm

We know House Republicans are playing games with the debt ceiling because if a party weren’t, they would have already taken care of it. Or at the least made it abundantly clear they would take care of it in a non-hostage-taking, timely manner, such that journalists wouldn’t even bother asking about it.

Sunday Late Night: Anti-Gang Enforcement Needed on Capitol Hill

By: Teddy Partridge Sunday April 17, 2011 8:01 pm

Mark Warner’s Gang of Six is simply another attempt to gut Social Security, for the same reason Willie Sutton robbed banks: it’s where the money is.

When Everyone’s to Blame for the Shutdown, No One Is to Blame

By: Jon Walker Friday April 8, 2011 8:45 am

Polling shows the public divided on whether to blame Democrats or Republicans. The establishment media doesn’t want to be seen as choosing sides. And since there is an even split of powers in our Constitution, unlike many other democracies, there isn’t the clear accountability of being able to point to the party that controls this one specific chamber/office as the obvious offender.

Bob Schieffer: Reporter or Russert-Like Sphinx?

By: Teddy Partridge Sunday May 9, 2010 5:00 pm

Bob Schieffer is sitting on a scoop he needs to share with the world, unless his rules for ‘off-the-record’ are the same as the late Tim Russert: everything is always off-the-record unless the newsmaker specifically grants ‘permission to use.’

Scott Brown Too Much for Bob Schieffer and Kathleen Parker

By: Scarecrow Sunday April 18, 2010 12:30 pm

Just before Scott Brown won election to be my Senator, political pundits praised Brown for running a smart, effective campaign. It’s now clear that what they meant was that the man could talk effectively out of both sides of his mouth and bamboozle your typical Talking Heads interviewer.

CBS Lets Lieberman Lie About the CBO Analysis of Public Option Premiums

By: Scarecrow Monday November 2, 2009 7:19 am

There appears to be no limit to the number of lies and misrepresentations the unprincipled opportunist Joe Lieberman will embrace so the media will think Joe is “relevant.”
