Sunday saw parliamentary elections swing to the pro-West faction of Ukraine politics with results that will likely keep Arseniy Yatsenyuk as Prime Minister of Ukraine. Yatsenyuk’s party, People’s Front, gained 21.6% of the vote with the bloc supporting President Petro Poroshenko getting 21.5% of the vote. Ukraine Seeks NATO Membership as Putin Addresses Separatists as ‘New Russia’

In a desperate and potentially catastrophic move, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk has asked the parliament in Kiev to assist in gaining Ukraine membership in NATO. Under the rules of NATO, any attack – real or perceived as real – on a member must be responded to by all members.

Before Ukraine can formally seek membership it must reverse its currently codified status as non-bloc which was put in the Ukrainian Constitution by couped out former President Viktor Yanukovich.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had a different offering to the gods for failure – the GOP.

Ukraine’s Interim Prime Minister Says Country Is Part Of ‘Western World’

By: Thursday March 13, 2014 6:40 am

Ukraine’s opposition Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, decided to stop hiding his strings and all but admit that he is trying to align with and serve US and EU interests claiming that “Ukraine is and will be part of the Western world.” So much for independence. It seems Yatsenyuk is proving the old adage that politics is a strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles.
