Apparently the simple act of closing your account at a CitiBank can get you arrested. Watch as this nice woman in the business suit is manhandled and hauled away as she and some friends decided to close their CitiBank accounts at the same time.

In Which Bluewombat Gets Arrested on Purpose

Interfaith Communities United for Justice & Peace organized a march and rally at the Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles today. The event’s culmination was civil disobedience, in which 14 people would refuse to leave the street in front of the Federal Building after the rally and, in all probability, get arrested. I was one of the 14.

~ Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz, who brought the 13 surfboards into Gaza in 2007 for Palestine surfers who were using wind surfing boards with the sails removed and battered surfboards to catch the waves off the coast. Inspired by their dedication, Doc and friends, including one of guests tonight, Matt Olsen, Doc founded Surfing 4 Peace and arranged for 23 more boards, plus clothes, surf wax and gear to be hand delivered to Gaza by American and Israeli surfers.

Lt. Dan Choi Arrested in Russia

While visiting FDL, you may have noticed the smiling face of a man in uniform, attached to these words:

The words and face belong to Lt. Dan Choi.

Lt. Choi is in Moscow this weekend, in solidarity with the formidable and brave activists of GayRussia — and has now been arrested for taking part in a Moscow Pride demonstration.

VIDEO: Eighty year-old Daniel Ellsberg was arrested on Saturday in front of the White House when he refused to leave at the request of police. He was one of 113 people who were arrested, handcuffed and taken to the police station on March 19, 2011 for protesting President Obama’s continued torture of Bradley Manning.
