As Obama Prepares to Do Battle Against Washington and Colorado, Here’s the Pointy End of His Spear

By: Saturday December 8, 2012 5:00 pm

The New York Times reported Thursday that high level talks are going on within the Obama administration on how to deal with Washington and Oregon, both of whose voters helped bring Obama his second term, and both of which had more voters support legalizing recreational marijuana use than voted for the president. Obama is the third president in a row to have used marijuana in his younger days.

The NYT article uses so many anonymous White House sources it reeks of “trial balloon.”

Andrew Sullivan Finally Does the Bare Minimum Research About Obama’s Marijuana Position

By: Friday February 17, 2012 3:00 pm

Amazing what a difference a month makes. Andrew Sullivan, at long last, pulled his head out of the sand and did the absolute bare minimum of research about Obama’s marijuana policy before writing about it. Just last month Sullivan praised Obama for somehow helping to advance the cause of marijuana legalization despite the fact that Obama has waged a very aggressive multi-agency war on marijuana. To quote Sullivan, “Under Obama, support for marriage equality and marijuana legalization has crested to record levels.”

Obama Has Proven to Be an Adamant Opponent of Marijuana Reform

Andrew Sullivan is still trying to defend his absurd claim that Obama somehow deserves credit for growing support for marijuana legalization. In fact, though, while the decades long trend towards greater support for marijuana legalization hasn’t stopped since Obama took office, it has continued despite the Obama Administration’s overt opposition.

Andrew Sullivan attempts to mount a defense of President Obama’s record from the standpoint of achieving liberal objectives. But on some key items, he gets the President’s record and positions wrong, even backwards.

The Understandable Confusion of Andrew Sullivan

I’m sure Sullivan enjoys excercising complete control over every word that appears on his blog. Some of us enjoy a variety of opinion and the back-and-forth of allowing different voices to express theirs too. It’s a mistake to extrapolate too much from one setup to another — and an even bigger mistake to trust someone else to make those distinctions for you without at least checking their links.

Welcome to 2010.

Obama the Conservative?

By: Thursday December 24, 2009 5:15 pm

One of the crowning ironies of the swarms of reflexive Obamapologists attacking FDL for working with conservatives like Grover Norquist concerning the details of Rahm Emanuel’s Freddie Mac stewardship as reported by the Chicago Tribune is that they didn’t raise so much as a peep of protest when the ACLU, CAF and PFAW worked with the guy.
