New Judge Named for Jared Loughner Case; Federal Jurisdiction an Issue

A new judge, from outside of Arizona, has been appointed to handle the Federal Criminal case against Jared Loughner, and he will have a substantial issue of jurisdiction on his hands when he first takes the bench on it.

Above the Law, reporting on a speech 9th Circuit Court Chief Judge Alex Kozinski gave at Fordham Law, summarized his argument as, “A New Argument in Favor of Cameras in the Courtroom: Bloggers Suck.” Perhaps Judge Kozinski should ask federal Judge Reggie Walton whether bloggers suck?

Golinski Battles the O-Bots: Decisions in 9th Circuit Challenge DOMA and DOJ

In the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Reinhardt found the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) clearly unconstitutional and, because it discriminates against protected classes. Judge Kozinski entered another Order this week further blistering the Obama Administration and all but instructing Karen Golinski to sue the federal government for benefits denied her family.

It seems scandalous that these cases were necessary, since the Obama Administration ran hard on relief to the GLBT community and protection and equal protection of their rights; why are they hiding behind the DOMA they once scorned?
