Gun Enthusiasts to “Send Obama Message” With Gun Appreciation Day Two Days Before Inauguration

A new coalition of gun rights and conservative groups has proclaimed January 19, 2013, “Gun Appreciation Day” — the group, calling themselves GAD, has begun urging Americans nationwide to show their support for gun ownership by turning out en masse at gun stores, ranges, and shows from coast to coast.


A Modest Proposal in Support of the Second Amendment

In light of gun-caused deaths that happen in America several times a day on average, and mass shootings with legally-possessed firearms in places like Columbine High School, Virginia Tech, Chardon High School, the Aurora Mall Theater, and now Sandy Hook Elementary School, I think it’s high time to take a very conservative, strict constructionist approach to the Second Amendment.

Did Justice Scalia Just Encourage the Next Crazy to Aim a Real RPG at the Supreme Court?

It is a well know fact that when a right wing zealot is invited onto Fox News, you’re likely to hear the the most extreme forms of right wing nuttiness, while the Fox interviewer barely flinches at the sheer nuttiness. And that rule apparently applies to radical right wing Supreme Court Justices.

Zach Ford at Think Progress caught Justice Antonin Scalia telling Mike Wallace and Fox viewers that under his view of the Constitution’s 2nd Amendment, the “right to keep and bear arms” extends to whatever a man not affiliated with any militia can physically carry and aim at another human being, including a launcher for rocket propelled grenades.

Why is it that “the right to bear arms” is enshrined in the Constitution, but the right to vote isn’t?
