Karl Rove’s billionaire pals gave him nearly $400 million to defeat President Obama in particular and Democrats and their issues in general, and he got waxed. Badly.

So yeah, the Democrats had a pretty good election on Tuesday: Electoral vote landslide for Obama, wins for progressives like Liz Warren, Tammy Baldwin, Sherrod Brown and Alan Grayson, and losses for misogynistic Tea Party buffoons like Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, Allen West and Joe Walsh. Better yet, as the minority and youth votes grow, it looks like these kinds of results could be the new normal.

Let’s go out of our way to make the wingnuts feel better. That’ll fix everything. Surely then they’ll stop calling you traitors and criticizing your coverage and basically making it out like your personal mission in life is to ruin their fun. If you give them just this one thing, if you throw them a bone, they’ll stop slavering and snarling around your door. That always works.

I don’t see this quadrennial exercise being very good for America, this time around. I don’t think too terribly many people have been convinced to change their minds. I see lots of people dug into our own corners, with very little incentive — win or lose — to reach out to the other corner come Wednesday. I see lots of verbiage feeding lots of enmity feeding lots of long-term bad feelings about people we used to think highly of. There are lots of breached friendships, lots of bruised feelings, lots of broken familial relations. This timeline seems burned to a crisp.

Multiple Pulitzer Prize finalist and banjo-playing fool Joe Newby reports that the blahs are threatening to get all up in America’s grill if President Afrika “Barry” Obambatta is not not given another four years to turn America into a Muslim Boogaloo Wonderland of Miscegenation & Hip Hop Barbeques. How do we know this is true? Because plans are being posted on the supersecret Underground Railroad New Black Panthers Pan-African Black Jesus Tupac Twitter machine.

If Mitt Romney’s high-finance cronies had more money invested in horses and bayonets, would the Republican presidential candidate be insisting that our national security depended on them?
As it is, Romney is championing a vast and costly expansion in the number of the Navy’s big battleships, from which one of his top foreign policy advisers could make a healthy profit.

Anti-Austerity protesters attempt to free themselves from an illegal police kettle in NE Portland on November 3 2012. It was confirmed afterward that several of those hit with chemical weapons were students.

This year’s presidential election has produced a brand new form of messaging. It isn’t very cutting edge, though; not some kind of recently developed social media application or scary new number crunching technology. No, it’s empty chairs. Really. People (in northeast Ohio at least) have been putting them on their front lawns as a tribute to Clint Eastwood’s speech at the Republican National Convention. Sometimes the chairs are completely by themselves, unaccompanied by any election signage or word of explanation.

Might I just add that this rightwing obsession with Benghazi where Benghazi has grown to become 9/11 times the Holocaust plus the Rape of Nanking, is the most amazing wingnut freakout that I’ve seen since Hillary murdered her lesbian lover, Vince Foster, in Fort Marcy Park with a candlestick.
