History was made tonight in Colorado. The voters of the state chose to legalize marijuana. The Denver Post is projecting that Amendment 64 will be approved. With 38 percent reporting, the initiative is winning 53.1 percent yes to 46.9 percent no.

Democrats have now secured enough Senate seats to hold onto the majority in that chamber while Republicans have been projected to keep control of the House. The Presidential race still hasn’t been called yet but it is looking very bleak for Mitt Romney at the moment.

It is election night and so far things are looking good for President Obama. The exit polling, which is not always accurate, currently has Obama winning in the critical swing state of Ohio.

At last, the moment we’ve all been waiting for! It’s the day we finally don’t have to watch any more campaign ads for, like, at least a year.
Anecdotally, I’ve been hearing that turnout is pretty good, which is a little surprising to me given my belief that the overwhelming majority of voters on both sides are casting votes against the other guy than enthusiastically supporting their guy. I would really like to see polling numbers on that, as I can think of few better indicators of the breakdown of democracy when neither party can offer a presidential candidate that anyone* believes will enthusiastically represent their interests.
