Firedoglake is a leading progressive online community, news site, and blog that features original reporting, in-depth analysis, and commentary. FDL has organized hundreds of thousands of online activists who’ve raised millions of dollars for progressive candidates and causes.

Responsibilities
Firedoglake seeks an experienced journalist in the DC metro area to work full-time reporting on US politics and policy, with a concentration on the federal government. Content would be for daily web publication, and would include breaking news, analysis, advocacy, and investigative journalism. Candidate should be able to both generate his/her own stories, as well as work on assignment. Ability to write in a punchy style on tight deadlines a must.

Requirements
Located in Metro DC area
Experience writing news, political commentary, and analysis for blogs and/or print publications
Strong awareness of and interest in current events and US politics
Existing political and media contacts
Reliable Internet access (mobile capability a +)
Available to monitor news, report, and write 9 AM – 6 PM Eastern Time, five days a week, or more as breaking news and developing stories demand

Bonus Qualifications
Investigative journalism experience
Professional experience writing headlines and ledes
Skilled at effective layout / formatting of web copy
Photojournalism skills
Assignment Editor experience
Political advocacy / campaign experience

This is a full-time, work-from-home position.

Compensation
Competitive, commensurate with experience. Generous health care stipend also available.
