How will the right-wing possibly “over-the-top” themselves this week?

Once upon a time, two authors wrote two books that heavily attacked two presidential candidates.

The first author stuck to known and rock-solid proven and provable facts for the most part, complete with on-the-record witnesses. The second author lied like a rug.

The first author’s book was largely ignored by the national media and so never made any best-seller lists.

Now it can be told.  Through the crack research of Jerome Corsi and CNN, we now know that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is: A closet Muslim; a drug user; an angry black radical; possibly the Antichrist; and maybe, just maybe, an 8-foot-tall, fur-covered Sasquatch.

It certainly is interesting to see the amount of attention Jerome “Swift Boat” Corsi’s new smear book, Obama Nation, is already garnering. We wait with breathless anticipation Corsi’s multiple appearances on cable TV talking about Obama’s “unanswered questions” and anti-American attitudes, yadda yadda yadda. Because in comparison, Cliff Schecter’s book about John McCain, The Real McCain, has been given the classic media blackout treatment.

Dr. Jerome Corsi, the man of right-wing letters whose goofy books got Americans talking in 2004 about whether John Kerry shot himself on purpose (Unfit For Command), and in 2007 about the “coming merger with Mexico and Canada” (The Late Great U.S.A.) has just struck New York Times Bestseller List gold with his dumb new book, The Obama Nation. And this one has people asking whether Barack Obama plans to team up with his depraved cousin from Kenya—the Luo politician Raila Odinga—to make your daughters wear burqas and pledge allegiance to Terrorist Law.

There’s a new book, due out in September, titled The Conservative’s Handbook: Defining the Right Position on Issues from A to Z, which seems to be setting itself up as a kind of dogmatic Bible for the denizens of Greater Wingnuttia. It too seems to be trying help conservatives just figure out who the fuck they are. Lotsa luck with that, fellas.

Jim David Adkisson, the right wing terrrorist whose rampage left 2 dead and 7 wounded Knoxville, was a fan of all three. The vitriol each of these demagogues has hurled at progressives is appalling. Hannity wrote a book equating liberalism with terrorism. O’Reilly invited a terrorist attack on San Francisco. And Savage accused “the homosexual mafia” of “raping our children’s minds.”

The same publisher that distributed the 2004 best-seller that took aim at John Kerry’s Vietnam service is planning a summer release of what’s scheduled to be the first critical book on Barack Obama.

Conservative journalist David Freddoso’s “The Case Against Barack Obama” will offer “a comprehensive, factual look at Obama,” according to the president of Regnery Publishing.

The NYT’s Michael Luo wrote up a nice little fluff job today on Floyd Brown and his gang of scum-chumming operatives. You can’t buy advertising like that.
