Washington Post Ombudsman Andrew Alexander decided to move the apostrophe in his job title this week. He's not the readers' representative; he is a reader's representative. And that reader, "sports media consultant" Ari Fleischer, has a complaint about the Post's Maureen Dowd wannabe, Dana Milbank, most famously scrutinized by Ombudsman Deb Howell, who made her Ombuds bones excoriating Milbank for wearing hunter blaze orange on Keith Olbermann to comment on Dick Cheney's hunting accident.

In spite of the fact that it is becoming increasingly clear to the rest of the media that Porter Goss and Nancy Pelosi agree that they were not briefed that the CIA had already been torturing prisoners in September 2002, the WaPo has decided to double down on deliberately misreading events.

MATLOCK!!! types again

One of my longstanding pet peeves is the right's use of the "incivility" canard to attack liberal bloggers. They latched onto this one metric - use of swear words - as some kind of bogus proxy for Basic Human Decency, because it was the only measure by which they come out ahead. But now Michael Gerson has gone beyond even that flimsy dodge, and simply hones in on liberal/Democratic incivility to the exclusion of all else:

Chuckles Krauthammer has always loved torture and will always find a way to justify his love of inflicting pain -- especially on brown people.

Richard Cohen, is a "liberal" just ask him.

Shorter Krauthammer, there's always time to start bombing somebody...preferably a Shiite.
