You’ve gone backwards a ways baby

Yesterday was a day full of anniversaries and remembrances…and deliberate re-writing of history. So just another day at FoxNews.

Escaping Medusa: The Secret of Lightness

By: Glenn W. Smith Sunday January 16, 2011 9:30 am

There was a frightening heaviness to the days following the Tucson shootings. Some years ago, Italo Calvino perfectly described the feeling I had last week: At certain moments I felt that the entire world was turning into stone: a slow petrification, more or less advanced depending on people and places but one that spared no [...]

Judge Roll: Conservative Committed to Rule of Law Is a Better Role Model Than Sarah Palin

By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday January 11, 2011 9:24 am

I don’t care if they find Sarah Palin’s crosshairs map in Jared Loughner’s bedroom. She didn’t cause him to do what he did. What she did do, undeniably and indisputably, was act irresponsibly in the midst of an extremely volatile situation. On the fifth straight day of violence and threats against members of Congress over the health care bill, when everyone from John Boehner on down was calling for the attacks to stop, Palin released her “crosshairs” map and tried to prove she was not a “weenie” by telling people to “reload, not retreat.”

Of Petrified Giants and the Credulity Crisis

By: Glenn W. Smith Sunday November 21, 2010 9:30 am

Right-Wing Talker Fired from Congressional CoS Job for Inciting Threat Against Public Schools

By: David Dayen Thursday November 11, 2010 3:50 pm

Allen West may be the nuttiest of the nutjob Republicans elected last week, and it took him negative-55 days in office to register his first controversy. West signaled his intention to hire a Florida conservative talk-show host as his chief of staff. After criticism of her and some of her comments (calling Nancy Pelosi “garbage,” basically calling for armed insurrection to take back the government), West dropped her, with the talk-show host, Joyce Kaufman, saying she would not be used in an “electronic lynching” by liberals. (West is black, by the way.)

But the case doesn’t appear to be that cut and dried. Kaufman may have incited a threat against Broward County schools, which is probably more the reason she won’t be running a Congressional office in Washington.

James O’Keefe: As Creepy and Classless as Pretty Much Every Other Right-Wing Media Hero

By: Blue Texan Thursday September 30, 2010 10:30 am

It seems like only yesterday that Andrew Breitbart’s boy was being hailed as a “pioneer in journalism” deserving of a Pulitzer, an American hero — who Glenn Beck praised as the new right-wing Woodward and Bernstein. Alas, the National Review now says it wall all a big mistake.
