I’m so TIRED of hearing the preposterous Bible-based reasons for voting against marriage equality or for amendments to “protect marriage.” This is particularly disgusting when the NOM-based strategy of stirring up socially conservative religious members of the black community against the gay community is used to perpetrate the lie that this is about “religious freedom” being assaulted.

As disgusting as the Right’s ugly character attacks upon Trayvon Martin are, they are made even uglier by the cynical tactical thinking that motivates them. The Rush Limbaughs, Matt Drudges, and Michelle Malkins of the world know that blowing the racist dog whistle galvanizes white racist voters. And there are a lot of white racist voters, and all of them vote Republican.

On March 27th 2012 in Janesville, Wisconsin, Rick Santorum gave a speech and said: “We know, we know the candidate Barack Obama, what he was like. The anti-war government nig- uh, the uh America was a source for division around the world.”

This past Wednesday, Occupy Supply hosted a webinar on Racism and the Occupy Movement – the latest installment in our online discussion series featuring journalist and editor of “Re-Defining Black Power” Joanne Griffith and Occupy Detroit media coordinator Lee Gaddies.

In my opinion this was one of the best presentations we’ve had and we were so fortunate to finally be able to work out the kinks and get a recording of the entire talk. We hope to continue to be able to provide recordings of our Occupy Supply webinars so that these conversations, ideas, and strategies can be shared for the benefit of the entire movement.

These guys were just waiting for their moment to let the ugly out, and that moment is now.

As reported by Art Pope Exposed yesterday and on the Blend, the Meck Deck, an official blog of the Art Pope-funded conservative John Locke Foundation, published a ridiculous and offensive post with a racially-charged and homophobic image of President Obama to go with author Tara Servatius’s piece on POTUS’s opposition to North Carolina’s Amendment One, “Obama Goes Pro Gay Marriage to Get NC on Election Day.”

s it 2012? Yes, it is, but in Sanford, Florida (near Orlando), the clock winds back to the days of Deep South Justice. Unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was hunted down and gunned down for the heinous crime of “carrying Skittles while black.”

As we learned back in 2008, the race-baiting fringe was so overwhelmed by the possibility of having a black man as President that they became completely unglued, showing up at McCain/Palin rallies to hang their bigoted @sshattery out for the whole world to see, gleefully shaking monkey dolls with “Obama” on them, burning crosses and the like. And of course the GOP did nothing to condemn it — and even whipped up the racial/Muslim/terrorist angle.
