The UN has vague concerns and John Bellinger, former Legal Adviser to the United States Secretary of State during the Bush administration, very specific ones about the way in which we’re using cover of a war on terrorism (which has, after all, been renamed a war against violent extremism, with no specificity to al Qaeda or terrorism) to target people we’ve got no legal basis targeting.

Just spoke with electoral commission people on the DL and they told me that their latest count shows a 17-18 point advantage, which, even with fraud, even with missing ballots, even with illegal voters means El Salvador has ended 150 years of rule by oligarchs and military dictatorships.

Blogger/journalist Roberto Novato, who has been in El Salvador observing the election, calls to say there is concern because on Friday night they were told that the results would be announced tonight by a company called Universal Identification Solutions. There is almost nothing about them on the web, and their website is extremely sketchy.
