I’m not surprised that Karl Rove has weighed in on the foreclosure fraud scandal with an erroneous op-ed in the WSJ. I’m just a bit baffled why he did so now.

Welcome to the next decade, when we finally get the report telling us what we knew back in 2007 when this investigation started, that Rove politicized the government.

It only took years to figure out what was known at the time. It’s almost as if legal violations have no consequences if you’re a Republican.

Yep, I’m quick on the uptake.

When the definitive history of the dismantling of the system of justice during the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries in the United States is written, the case of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman will deserve its own chapter. The next episode in this sad saga will play out on Wednesday in a satellite courtroom for the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Jacksonville, Florida. I will try to be in the courtroom for the oral arguments, but unfortunately, the Eleventh Circuit allows no electronic devices of any type in the courtroom, so I will have to take notes and then prepare a report from the notes.

Remember the entire point of Karl Rove’s plot to fire a bunch of U.S. Attorneys and replace them with partisan hacks? It was to advance the political career of the new USAs — including New Jersey’s Chris Christie, and now Arkansas’ Tim Griffin.

The eye-popping takeaway from documents related to CREW and National Security Archive’s recent settlement is that, for the 21 days of emails supposedly restored, 83% of the emails weren’t restored.

No one political operative, no matter how powerful, brilliant, or stupid, can destroy a political party. The elected Republicans who were in power when they caused or failed to respond correctly to our country’s most serious disasters are the people who destroyed the party.

Karl Rove, it helps in the GOP to have no shame whatsoever.
