When the news first came of the shocking terror attacks in Norway yesterday, movement conservatives figured that Muslims were the perpetrators. Turns out the guy was a Con himself.

My question for tonight is: who would you cast off the airplane? Whom would you return to the jetway? Who doesn’t fly with Pilot You?
Will the Right Condemn David Petraeus for His Cowardly Indulgence of Moral Equivalence? |

For most functioning adults, condemning self-promoting acts of unabashed bigotry is a no-brainer. For those with mild disabilities, condemning self-promoting acts of unabashed bigotry that put American lives at risk is still pretty doable. But when the bigot is a Christian wingnut and his target is Islam, well, that does complicate things a bit for the mouth-breathing right. So they’ve spent the last few days lashing out at Obama and the media for…criticizing Jones. Seriously.
Wingnut Pastors, Hate-Filled Soldiers, and a Scandal Greater than Abu Ghraib |

The anti-Muslim hate industry in the US poisons more than just those who hear their venom. When those infected with it join the military and are posted to an Islamic country, all hell breaks loose. For a description of that hell, let me direct your attention to a video documentary by Der Spiegel of the members of a “kill team” from the 5th Stryker Brigade in Afghanistan.
The hate industry at home created the monsters, and the military trained them, gave them weapons and put them in situations to act on their hate. The price for this is being paid for this by Afghan civilians, other US soldiers, UN aid workers, and others. Enough.
Sunday Late Night: Bigot Bryan Fischer of AFA: “No 1st Amendment for you, Muslims!” |

Oh, and we need some denouncing, stat: Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Mike Huckabee, and Haley Barbour, likely presidential aspirants all, have appeared on Bryan Fischer’s radio show.
We Either Live Together, or We Die Together |

This past week, as the Coptic Christian Church prepared to celebrate Christmas (celebrated by them and other eastern Christian churches on January 6), Islamic fundamentalist militants in Egypt threatened to carry out bomb attacks on their churches if they gathered for worship. Given similar attacks in recent months in Egypt and elsewhere in the middle east, this was no idle threat.
And the people of Egypt reacted, coming out in defense of their neighbors: “We either live together, or we die together.”
Imagine how different the world would be is more people started talking like that?
The Logical Outcome of Juan Williams’ Legitimization of Irrational Fears |

Thanks to Juan Williams’ legitimization of this kind of irrational response, I guess people dressed in religious garb no longer can pee in crappy airplane bathrooms without expecting to be detained by the FBI.
NeoCons Make Unapologetic Call for McCarthyism Against Muslims |
| By: emptywheel Thursday September 16, 2010 9:31 am |
Here’s the latest stunt from the NeoCons: they unabashedly admit they intend to make shit up to sow fear of Muslims, and part of that will be targeting Muslims for deportation.

Americans didn’t exactly live up to the Founding Fathers’ ideals this past weekend.
