In the midst of tracking news of Gaza this week, I heard the report that the Saville Commission on Bloody Sunday had – after 38 years – found that the actions of the British government on January 30, 1972 were “unjustified” and “indefensible.”

I think these folks should take a bow. They went above and beyond the call of duty this week.

The Prime Minister’s Office issued a press release in English following the meeting, which was also sent to foreign diplomats, was substantially different than the Hebrew announcement – according to the English text, a decision was made to ease the blockade, but in the Hebrew text there was no mention of any such decision.

Ok, so I feel really dumb. When looking at the announcement of the Israeli “investigation” which attempts to bypass standard international law to coverup the attack on the Freedom Flotilla, I noted there was an Irishman and a Canadian on the panel – though without voting rights. Now comes word that Israel has decided to ignore international calls for an independent, international investigation into the attack on the Gaza flotilla – and will instead investigate itself. Obama’s White House has said this is a great idea.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Ayalon given free rein to spin on Fareed Zakaria’s show while Irish journalists blocked from reporting the real story in Gaza – and Gazan women come under Israeli fire when trying to harvest wheat.

You can call this craven or disgusting if you want, but I’ll go with stupid: Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would rather look tough than smart when it comes to Gaza.

I woke up this morning to hear NPR commentators tell me that IHH, the Turkish charity that coordinated the Gaza Freedom Flotillas, was — wait for it — connected by French Intelligence to Al-Qaeda! Too bad the whole thing’s bullshit. Not only that, it was bullshit that was shown to be such well before the NPR story hit the airwaves, having been debunked four days ago.

Do we know yet how many were killed, wounded or are missing from Monday’s attack on the humanitarian flotilla to Gaza?

So now PapaDick’s evil spawn demands that the President of this country ignore the illegal killing of an American in service to her small-minded McCarthyite attacks?
