You just knew after the historic events in New York on Friday night that there would be some truly deliciously unhinged wingnuttery coming from William F. Buckley’s old place. After all, under Buckley, the National Review was objectively pro-Jim Crow in the ’50s and ’60s.

Last month, a Gallup poll showed that, for the first time, a majority of Americans were in favor of giving gays the legal right to marry. And last night, given the choice between lining up behind the majority of the fellow citizens and a deeply unpopular, failed president, the Republican presidential candidates chose the latter.

Last night’s Republican debate — far less eloquent than Mike Emrich.

The Right-Wing still knows how to become outraged about the important stuff…at least according to what the Village tells me.

Gays get married, and suddenly you have toddlers getting felt up by their uncles as they pilot their Hummers though Heartland America. Also these toddlers are high on crack. And drunk. And gay.

For the first time since Gallup has been polling the issue the pollster has found a clear majority of Americans now favor a law recognizing same-sex marriage.

If Walker would have to recuse because he is gay and in a relationship, would a judge in a heterosexual marriage also have to recuse? Would he not have to recuse if he merely cruised from club to club every night and didn’t have a long-term partner? Could only a confirmed bachelor or bachelorette who vowed never to marry, and thus not have their marriage threatened by a same-sex couple, have the distance necessary to judge? Can a woman not fairly judge a gender discrimination case? Can any judge over the age of 65 not fairly rule in an age discrimination case?
