Looks like the sound construction practices expected from military contracts has once again come to pass.

Sigmund Freud once mentioned the defense offered by a man who was accused by his neighbor of having returned a kettle in a damaged condition. In the first place, he had returned the kettle undamaged; in the second place it already had holes in it when he borrowed it; and in the third place, he had never borrowed it at all.

Today is the day that my worst fears will be realized, and the propaganda machine that has been mercilessly promoting the career of David Petraeus will achieve his nomination to be Director of Central Intelligence.

I hope Heartless Dick and RumaDon stay gone after today, and I hope Hoser Mubarak and his vice-torturer go away tomorrow. All of these bad men worked together to hurt a lot of people and it’s time for them to just go away and let nice people take over.

Every race has a dark horse, running at long odds. In this year’s race for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Film, the dark horse is GasLand (2010), a film by Josh Fox that takes on almost everyone in the Oil and Gas Industry, including George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Halliburton over the use of “fracking” — hydraulic fracturing — to extract natural gas from vast deposits all over the United States.

In the race to see which would be discounted more quickly, Cheney’s freedom won out over cheap Chinese toys at Christmas season: the final price for Cheney’s freedom is $35 million.

It seems like the value of former Vice President Dick Cheney’s freedom, like all other goods, declines the closer you get to Christmas. Cheney better hope that Nigeria ratifies this deal soon though, because you never know what happens to goods left on the shelf after the holidays.
