Perhaps I am easily amused, but the ongoing feud between Bunning and McConnell (and Cornyn) makes me smile every time Bunning rears his head into Mitch’s airspace. In the latest installment, he takes shots at McConnell’s leadership, and blames him for the GOP’s remarkable collapse in the Senate:

Reports that Governor Paterson is determined to appoint Caroline Kennedy to Senator Clinton’s seat may be a bit exaggerated.

There is value to experience, especially when it comes to high-pressure jobs like United States Senator or, yes, major-league pitcher.
2008 Election: Still Not Dead |
| By: Eli Tuesday December 2, 2008 5:26 pm |
Here it is, the day we (and Joe Lieberman) have all been waiting for: The Georgia Senate runoff between Democrat Jim Martin and Saxby Chambliss, one of most odious Republicans to walk the earth. In case you need reminding, Chambliss is the prince of a fellow who beat war hero Max Cleland (you know, the guy who left three limbs in Vietnam) by calling him soft on terror and morphing his face with Osama bin Laden’s.

Why is it that every time I think about writing a W piece, the tune Wayward Son (YouTube) pops in my head? At long last, the winners of the Name Bush’s Biographical Tome Contest. And an assorted compilation of some of my faves, because it’s Friday and we all deserve a laugh….
Who is Lieberman Rooting for in Georgia? |

What I really want to know is, who is Lieberman rooting for in Georgia? On the one hand, he has more in common with Chambliss, but if Martin wins and Begich and Franken pull out their elections, that would make Joe the magical 60th vote and, in his mind, the belle of the ball.
Nader Of The North |

As Political Base points out, Mark Begich’s current margin of victory in the Alaska Senate race (1,022 votes) is dwarfed by the 12,000 votes cast for the Alaska Independence Party candidate. Given that the Alaska Independence Party are on the right-wing survivalist end of the political spectrum, that pretty much makes Bob Bird the gun-toting separatist version of Ralph Nader – only more popular.
Name The Bush Biographical Tome Contest! |

President Bush recently spoke with CNN about his regrets (a little too much yeehaw language in the bring it on arena, and that those doggone folks on the USS Abraham Lincoln put up that “Mission Accomplished” banner), his triumphs (Americans sure are swell and polls are meaningless, so there), and that he’s headed back to Texas after January 20th. (Sorry Lone Star State.) Bush also announced he intends to write a book about his presidential experiences. Oh, frabtacular reading joy….so we’re having a contest to name the Bush book!
