Gay Donors Begin Boycotting Obama Campaign Over Anti-Discrimination Executive Order (ENDA)

By: David Dayen Tuesday May 8, 2012 7:40 am

LGBT fundraising has replaced Wall Street as a main source of support for the Obama campaign. But the President’s equivocation on ENDA and confusing rhetoric on marriage equality on other gay rights issues has depressed that support. In some cases, it has closed up that well.

By: Jon Walker Monday May 7, 2012 9:30 am

Now that Mitt Romney has basically secured his party’s nomination, the race for the presidency has gotten a lot tighter. Last month President Obama had a nine point lead in the 12 swing states (Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin) according to Gallup, but this month Obama and Romney are effectively tied.

Late Night FDL: Swinging From the Trees

By: cocktailhag Thursday May 3, 2012 8:00 pm

As I watch President Obama and his minions mercilessly tout his genius and bravery as a “War President,” presumably to attract “swing” voters, my only consolation is that I can now delete his incessant money-grubbing emails without a trace of guilt. Actually, it’s become a pleasure to do so, and it saves money, too. Never mind the creepy grave-dancing involved; the most galling part is how easily he slipped into this role, even resorting to tinny Bushisms about Bin Laden being “brought to justice.”

In Surprise Visit to Afghanistan, Obama Says Pacification to Take Two Years or More

By: Scarecrow Wednesday May 2, 2012 7:22 am

President Obama made a surprise visit to Afghanistan yesterday, ostensibly to sign a new agreement with the leader the US helped install in a country US armed forces have occupied for over ten years. The White House sought to frame the event as a “transition” point, with the US withdrawing and turning over security responsibilities to the Afghan armed forces, a mere six years or so after candidate Obama said he would turn America’s proper focus on Afghanistan, not Iraq. Now we know what that means.

“Forward” Is Obama’s Newest Attempt at a Campaign Message

By: Jon Walker Monday April 30, 2012 12:45 pm

The Obama 2012 campaign is testing out a new campaign theme with its 7 minute long web video entitled “Forward.” With the economy still lagging with high unemployment, the campaign must try to make the case that Obama has at least made some improvements, and that should make you trust that, if re-elected, he will continue to make even larger improvements going forward.

Holder Admits Obama Misled Rolling Stone About Marijuana Law

By: Jon Walker Monday April 30, 2012 9:15 am

While attending the White House Correspondents’ dinner Attorney General Eric Holder admitted to the Huffington Post that President Obama misled Rolling Stone about federal marijuana law. Obama claimed he “can’t nullify Congressional law” when it comes to medical marijuana, even though the Controlled Substance Act actually gives the Executive branch the authority to “reschedule” (reclassify) marijuana without Congressional action.

Obama Lies About Federal Marijuana Law to Rolling Stone

By: Jon Walker Wednesday April 25, 2012 12:15 pm

Apparently unable to find a legitimate or honest defense for his administration’s behavior regarding medical marijuana, President Obama instead resorted to a lie to Rolling Stone about what the law actually says. He claimed he could not change the legality of medical marijuana, but petitions from Governors have told him he can change marijuana’s status under current law.
