Maine Question 1: Civil Marriage Equality in Close Battle |
| By: Lisa Derrick Tuesday November 3, 2009 8:30 pm |
It’s a tight race for civil equality in Maine. Per the Bangor Daily News, at 10:21 Maine time, 172 of 605 (28 %) of precincts have been reported.
BREAKING: Chris Christie Declared Victor in New Jersey; NYC Mayor Bloomberg Re-Elected by Narrow Margin |
| By: Gregg Levine Tuesday November 3, 2009 7:15 pm |
MSNBC and AP are now both calling the race for Republican Chris Christie. With 70% of the precincts reporting, Christie holds a 50% to 44% margin over Corzine. Across the river, in New York City, number-crunchers are in quite a tizzy as the exit poll company has pulled back their projection of a Bloomberg victory [...]
Election Night Thread #2: McDonnell Projected VA Winner; NJ Gov. Race Too Close to Call |
| By: David Dayen Tuesday November 3, 2009 5:12 pm |
Polls in New Jersey and Maine are now closed. Leaked exit polls show New Jersey to be basically a tie, FWIW. There are no exit polls out of Maine. Virginia remains too early to call, which shocks me. The networks are being ultra-cautious. The latest numbers: 26.19% reporting McDonnell (R) 62.86% Deeds (D) 37.03% Deeds [...]
BREAKING: McDonnell over Deeds in VA |
| By: Gregg Levine Tuesday November 3, 2009 5:00 pm |
MSNBC is calling the Virginia Governor’s race for the Republican, Bob McDonnell. This is not surprise. The polls are closing in NJ and ME at this hour. New Jersey Governor is reported “too close to call”–also not a surprise at this stage of the evening. More on all this soon.
Election 2009: Election Night Thread #1; Polls Now Closed in VA |
| By: David Dayen Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:03 pm |
The polls close in Virginia at 7:00 ET polls are now closed in Virginia. The reports show light turnout, seen as a boost for Bob McDonnell, who doesn’t really need a boost. I’d expect a call on this race within minutes of the polls closing. Actual results can be found here. NBC News has released some [...]
NY-23: The Failure Of Blue Dogging |
| By: Jon Walker Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:35 pm |
A win by ultra-rightwing Doug Hoffman in NY-23 should challenge the notion held by some Democrats that winning right-wing districts requires a move towards the center-right.
CA-10: National Media’s Forgotten Race Proves Victory for Progressives |
| By: Teddy Partridge Tuesday November 3, 2009 2:40 pm |
[Ed. Note: Dave Dayen has more on the CA-10 race.] You’re forgiven for not knowing that the gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia, as well as the clusterFOX Congressional race in NY-23 and referenda on stripping same-sex marriage rights in Maine (NO!) and Washington (YES!) are not the only elections today: even the Washington [...]
NY-23: Teabagger Voter Intimidation Reported |
| By: David Dayen Tuesday November 3, 2009 2:01 pm |
Via John Amato, the teabagger activists in NY-23 are illegally intimidating local residents at the polls. I just got off the phone with former state Democratic Chairwoman June O’Neill, who informed me the police had been called to at least two polling sites in St. Lawrence County due to overzealous electioneering (O’Neill called it “voter [...]
Maine: OFA Not Big on Teh Gay |
| By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday November 3, 2009 12:40 pm |
AmericaBlog: Joe wrote last night about how the DNC’s “Organizing for America” organization (formerly known as “Obama for America”) emailed Maine voters yesterday about today’s election, but failed to mention the anti-gay ballot measure that is the number one issue in the state right now. Today things got worse. We just received a copy of [...]
