Hypocrisy in Action: Cecile Richards at Take Back America

By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday March 19, 2008 11:40 am

Cecile Richards, head of Planned Parenthood, just got up on stage and really got the audience going talking about how dangerous it was that another supreme court judge might be appointed who would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, and how progressive needed to get active in electoral politics to preserve a woman’s right too choose.

Jon Tester: “I’d Be More Surprised If Bush Didn’t Bomb Iran Before the Next Election Than If He Did”

By: Jane Hamsher Monday November 12, 2007 10:00 am

On Saturday night Howie Klein and I went to a dinner at the home of Rick Jacobs (Courage Campaign) for Jon Tester, who was raising money for his PAC to support Democratic Senatorial candidates in 2008.

Blue America raised over $17,000 from 901 contributors for Tester during the last election, so we took the opportunity to bend his ear and ask him about many of the issues that we felt were of

They Want Us To Go Away…

By: Phoenix Woman Wednesday November 7, 2007 6:30 pm

The Corporate/Bush Dog Wing of the Democratic Party – the one that our friends in the GOP/Media Complex like to portray as “reasonable” and “sensible” and “moderate” Democrats (“reasonable” meaning “rolls over for Bush and the GOP”) – would very much like us to go away.

They want to be able to keep the actual Democrats like Feingold outnumbered and shackled.

Slummy Joe On the Take?

By: Jane Hamsher Monday October 29, 2007 1:45 pm

I really don’t know what good Federal election laws are if nobody is going to enforce them. It was infuriating that nobody ever investigated Joe Lieberman’s huge slush fund following the 2006 general election, so hopefully they’ll get around to this:

Contributions from associates and friends of now-indicted garbage executive James Galante to the 2004 presidential campaign of U.S.

Sunday Late Nite: Snakes on A Plane

By: Teddy Partridge Sunday October 28, 2007 8:01 pm

Flying west to check up on the California fires, somebody got a very special ride on a very special plane after casting her very special vote for a very special federal judge:Bush invited Sen. Dianne Feinstein to join him on Air Force One during his trip. It may not have been coincidence that less than 24 hours earlier, Feinstein played a pivotal role in allowing Judge Leslie Southwick, a target of

The Wisdom of Rahm Emanuel Continues

By: Jane Hamsher Friday October 26, 2007 12:08 pm

Rahm Emanuel, the man who thought the war was a loser issue in 2006, who recruited 10 of the 20 Democratic House members who vote with Bush most frequently, the man in charge of the highly successful “House messaging” (see YouTube above), is now evangelizing that dealing with immigration is a dog for Democrats:

Frank Sharry, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, an influential advocacy group, blasted Rep.

Hillary Clinton, A Bundle of Telecom Money….And A Strange Silence

By: Jane Hamsher Thursday October 25, 2007 3:26 pm

Newsweek tell us that Bush and his Merry Bunch of Wingnuts are going apeshit about Dodd’s hold on the FISA bill:

As Democrats squabble, the administration and top Republicans are moving to exploit the issue. They accuse Democrats of sacrificing national security for short-term political gain. “Al Qaeda is not going to give us a break just because we’re having an election,” said Rep.

Eleanor Clift, Unclearly

By: Teddy Partridge Tuesday October 23, 2007 1:00 pm

Eleanor Clift uses her recent Newsweek column to rehabilitate the reputation of Rape Gurney Joe Lieberman, presumably for the benefit of fellow Villagers who’ve forgotten just what dear Joe did wrong. It must be a puzzle to the short-attention span cocktail party hostesses and Sunday gasbags who can’t exactly recall why decent Democrats despise Joe, even though they know there’s a bunch of people you can’t invite if he and

Strategy 101

By: Phoenix Woman Wednesday September 26, 2007 1:51 pm

Markos over at DailyKos talks about some good advice being offered by Republican Senator Charles Grassley (no, really!) on how to get the SCHIP bill passed:

Grassley said if he were the Democrats, he would send the SCHIP expansion to a vote every three months, along with campaign advertisements accusing Republicans of abandoning children.
