Blagojevich vs. Soprano

By: Ari Wednesday December 10, 2008 1:25 pm

1. “Unless I get something real good…shit, I’ll just send myself, you know what I’m saying.”

2. “What the fuck am I, a toxic person or something?”

3. “Log off, that “cookies” shit makes me nervous!”

4. “They’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them.”

Guardian Reports Hillary to Take Secretary of State

By: Ari Monday November 17, 2008 7:05 pm

The Guardian is reporting that Hillary Clinton “plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama.” Obviously take with a grain of salt until their is an official announcement.

Obama stepping down from the Senate Sunday. Time to shift our Draft Schakowsky Campaign into high gear.

By: Ari Thursday November 13, 2008 4:00 pm

Here are five reasons why Jan is the best choice:

1. Proven Progressive: By lifetime voting record she is the ninth most progressive member of Congress.

2. Obama Allie: Schakowsky was one of the first members of Congress to endorse him during his Senate race.

3. Against the War in Iraq from the start: “Schakowsky opposed the Iraq war resolution and was a founding member of the Out-of-Iraq Caucus”

Protecting The Vote

By: Ari Thursday October 30, 2008 12:58 pm

In a comment earlier today Perris asked if I could post on this video: Here are my feelings on the issue in general: 1. It is really important to document these cases and HAVA (Help America Vote Act) definetly needs to be changed. 2. I do not believe that the 2004 election was stolen by bad voting machines — I think for a variety of reasons we got our butts kicked.

They’re not even trying to be subtle

Here is a screen grab from a new McCain Campaign ad:

They’re not even trying to be subtle. Even George Bush left the dirtiest campaign ads and tactics to outside groups.

Sarah Palin Refuses To Answer Whether Or Not Abortion Clinic Bombers Are Terrorists

By: Ari Friday October 24, 2008 7:00 am

I just watched some highlights of Brian William’s interview with Sarah Palin and John McCain.

This exchange was shocking: (I transcribed this section myself — sorry about any errors.)

Brian Williams: Back to the notion of terrorists and terrorism, this word has come up in relation to Mr. Ayers — hanging out with terrorist – domestic terrorists.

It runs in the family

By: Ari Thursday October 23, 2008 5:30 pm

Emergency!

Joe McCain, John’s brother, calls 911 because he was stuck in traffic:

Operator: 911 state your emergency

Caller: It’s not an emergency but do you know why on one side at the damn drawbridge of 95traffic is stopped for 15 minutes and yet traffic’s coming the other way?

Did PBS bury controversial torture documentary under pressure from Bush administration?

By: Ari Tuesday October 14, 2008 8:15 pm

All signs point to yes:

On Thursday evening WNET in New York will air an important new documentary by Emmy and Dupont Award winning producer Sherry Jones entitled “Torturing Democracy.” It appears on WNET and several other affiliates independently because PBS would not run the show. […]

According to producer Sherry Jones, PBS told her that “no time slot could be found for the documentary before January 21, 2009″ — the day after George W. Bush and Dick Cheney leave office.

Republicans Were For Acorn Before they Were Against It

By: Ari Monday October 13, 2008 3:30 pm

Most hypocritically Republicans have been working with ACORN for years. Earlier today I posted a picture of John McCain at an ACORN rally. (Here is another one on the left.) According to a Miami-Dade Community College press release,

The Acorn Attacks: Registering voters is bad if you’re Republican

By: Ari Friday October 10, 2008 3:00 pm

The rightwing echo chamber’s ability to turnout boogiemen always astounds me. In 2004 it was George Soros, now its ACORN.

If any conservative tells you this campaign against ACORN is about “voter fraud”, they are either lying, ill informed, or just plain stupid. Ben Smith points out

“Acorn” may not exactly be a household word, but it was on the cover of one of the newspapers I read in
