Traitor Joe: A Few Things Democratic Senators Should Keep In Mind

As the members of the Senate contemplate whether or not to retain Lieberman, they should remember he made an ad for Republican Susan Collins and raised money for her in her race against Democratic House member Tom Allen. He was raising money for Collins as early as July 2007. He also campaigned for Norm Coleman in his race against Al Franken.

Uh, Sarah….You Sure You Want To Go There?

Ms. Palin directed most of her media criticism at liberal bloggers, whom she twice called, “those bloggers in their parents’ basement just talkin’ garbage.”

How would Sarah feel if someone called her an ignorant, freeloading bubble headed piece of trailer park trash whose daddy told the AP she spent the weekend scrambling to return her stolen clothes to the RNC?

Just trying to keep a sense of perspective here.

Schumer and Durbin Want Lieberman Stripped of Homeland Security Chair

This isn't about Joe Lieberman maintaining membership in a country club as a matter of feel-good "bipartisanship." There's actually a job that needs doing here, and when Chris Dodd and Evan Bayh say that they want Lieberman to retain his chairmanship, they are saying that the extraordinary waste, graft, greed and cronyism that have built the Department of Homeland Security to a bloated, ineffectual taxpayer-funded behemoth under Joe Lieberman is just fine.

The Case Against Lieberman

I realize it's often tough to stand back and objectively evaluate a friend.  When you see them all the time in the Senate john, laugh at each other's bad jokes, nudge one another to stay awake during Joe Biden's long-winded oratories -- you can lose sight of the fact that they're a Class-A jackass.

Case in point, Harry Reid, who now says "Joe Lieberman is not some right-wing nutcase...Joe Lieberman is one of the most progressive people ever to come from the state of Connecticut."

Ahem.

Methinks the members of the Senate Old Boys Club needs a memory refresher.

According to CNN, Lieberman was not offered a subcommitee by Reid as was earlier reported, but rather Chairmanship of Veteran's Affairs. Now, it's beyond the pale that Lieberman should have a gavel at all. But particularly in light of his record on Veteran's Affairs.

Lieberman Calling His Senator Pals, Begging To Stay

Politico confirms that Lieberman is working his Senate colleagues to keep his chairmanship: Lieberman has since been having phone conversations with colleagues, but has yet to meet with any in person. Most senators are receptive to Lieberman’s argument that allowing him to stay represents the type of unity that President-elect Obama espouses. If you think Lieberman ought to have discovered his "sense of unity" shortly before he claimed Obama doesn't put country first.

Michelle Bernard and Pat Buchannan were on Hardball talking about EFCA this week. Republican Bernard gave some advice to Obama, saying "I think card check would be the worst thing he could possibly do now or ever." Republican Buchanan agreed with her.

A bunch of people who ought to be explaining why they got their asses whipped this week telling me that all these janitors need to pipe down and suck it up is not compelling.

It's being reported that there was no conclusion reached in the meeting between Lieberman and Reid yesterday regarding the weasily one's future in the Senate. The same sources who told me yesterday about the substance of the meeting indicated that Reid is not kicking Joe out yet because there are several Senate seats still to be decided.
