Limbaugh to Steele: All Your Republicans Are Belong to Me!

Posted in: Conservatism, GOP ethics, GOP/Media complex, RNC, Republicans, Right Wing Radio, Snark

It started with a shot across Limbaugh’s broad, sweaty, cyst-ridden beam. It ended not with a bang, but with a humiliating, mewling whimper.

Michael Steele, the elected chair of the Republican National Committee, was getting a little fed up with the media’s anointing of Rush Limbaugh as the de facto leader of the Republican Party.

In a little-noticed interview Saturday night, Steele dismissed Limbaugh as an “entertainer” whose show is “incendiary” and “ugly.”

A collective "QUOI?!" reverberated throughout the blogosphere.  Steele dared to challenge the Oxycontin Kid?  With the truth, even! Would Rush let this stand?

In a word?  No.

"Why do you claim to lead the Republican Party when you seem obsessed with seeing to it President Obama succeeds?" Limbaugh asked. "I frankly am stunned that the chairman of the Republican National Committee endorses such an agenda. I have to conclude that he does because he attacks me for wanting it to fail."

On his incendiary, ugly radio show, Limbaugh continued to [m.c.] hammer Steele:

“I’m not in charge of the Republican Party, and I don’t want to be,” Rush said. “I would be embarrassed to say that I’m in charge of the Republican Party in a sad-sack state that it’s in. If I were chairman of the Republican Party, given the state that it’s in, I would quit.

[Editor's note: Rush is a big fan of the idea "When the going gets tough, the tough go have sex with minors in the Dominican Republic. But I digress.]

The bookmakers’ phones rang off the hook.  How long would it take for Steele, like Governor Mark Sanford (R-Coward) and  Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Yellow) before him, to prostrate himself before the Adipose Ego, begging forgiveness?

Under half a day, it appears.  The prospect of Limbaugh pounding his doughy chest in fury reduced the chair of the Republican National Committee to a quivering lump of gelatin.

“My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh,” Steele said in a telephone interview. “I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. . . . There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership.”

And with that, Michael Steele, the RNC’s answer to Barack Obama, the guy who asserted he was all "street" an’ shit because he hung out in Brooklyn and the Bronx once, relegated himself to the ever-growing dung heap behind Limbaugh’s throne.

Once the party of yellow ribbon magnets, Hummers, staying on-message, and "9/11/24/7", the Republican Party is now exposed to the world as cowed, feeble, old men imprisoned by the parasite that kept them alive for the past eight years: Rush Limbaugh.

Is that fucking funny or WHAT?
