McCain To Campaign For Saxby Chambliss; Will He Have Company?

Quick quiz. Who said this in 2002?
"I’d never seen anything like that ad. Putting pictures of Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden next to the picture of a man who left three limbs on the battlefield — it’s worse than disgraceful. It’s reprehensible."
That would be one Senator John McCain, lambasting Saxby Chambliss for the ads he ran against Max Cleland.
And yet, today:
U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will campaign for U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Chambliss’s campaign has confirmed.
Chambliss is locked in a tight runoff with Democrat Jim Martin that will be decided Dec. 2. The post-election race has attracted national attention as Democrats attempt to get a 60-vote, filibuster-proof majority in the upper chamber and Republicans try to prevent it.
Meanwhile, he might not be alone according to Cillizza:
Expect [Sarah] Palin to make some appearances in key races — maybe as soon as this month for Sen. Saxby Chambliss in his Georgia runoff — to show her drawing power and popularity among grassroots Republicans.
The GOP wants this one, bad. The NRSC has begun to run ads attacking Jim Martin.
