Texas Early Voting Makes Exit Polls Meaningless

Posted in: 2008 Election

Some of the top 15 most populous counties in Texas will have had more than half their votes cast before election day.  (The graph at the side is one day delayed).

What I’m hearing from locals is that African-American voting is up and it looks like Dem voting is up too, though it’s hard to tell, since Texas doesn’t have partisan voter registration.

The high level of early voting is going to make exit-polling on Tuesday very unreliable, because it’s possible that more folks will have already voted than are showing up on polling day.

Voting before election day is the way to do it, in general.  Your vote is much more likely to be counted, much less likely to be challenged and much less open to manipulation in general.
